Verge of Darkness by Ollie Odebunmi

Posted By Fantasy Books Curator Leave a Comment

Casca is no hero. He would rather run his tavern, while indulging in his pastime of poring over ancient manuscripts. But a dark shadow hovers over him, for his bloodline has been burdened with the task of protecting the land from the evil of soul eaters dismissed as nothing more than myth by many. Drunken tales told in taverns.

They were wrong. The soul eaters return after the barrier between worlds falls, leaving horrific death and desolation in their wake. Casca must face up to responsibilities he is ill-equipped to bear, as the land teeters on the edge of ruin.

But the threads of fate weave, drawing three mighty warriors into the maelstrom.
Pagan, a wanderer from the furthest corner of the world, seeking redemption for a gruesome act of vengeance committed in his youth. Moon, a one-eyed giant axeman from the frozen north, and Liang, an ice-cold swordswoman from the eastern continent.

With their very souls at stake, and forced to face their deepest darkest fears, the four must battle to save the land from sliding into a new age of darkness.

Targeted Age Group:: 21+

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I grew up as a big fantasy fan with ambitions to emulate authors such as Karl Edward Wagner, Raymond E Feist and David Gemmell. But it was a scary prospect, so I settled for writing a book on boxing – The Last Great Heavyweights-from Ali & Frazier to Lewis & Tyson. The book was well-received, persuading me I had the chops to be a writer, so I took the plunge and wrote Verge of Darkness.

The Necklace – The Dusky Club, June 1962 by Linda S Rice

This is book #1 of a steamy, time-travel romance series, “The Necklace.” The remaining 7 books in the series are only 99 cents each. ($6.93) for the entire 8-book series. The story of James and Susan, two unforgettable characters, will reel you in and take you on a roller coaster ride of passion, love, drama, humor, conflict, and betrayal.
What if you could travel back in time to meet the man of your dreams at a time when it would be possible for him to fall in love with you? Susan does just that when she meets two women from Haiti while on a cruise with her childhood friend, Lynn. Mika, the elderly of the two ladies, claims she can see into Susan’s soul, and that if she sends her back in time to meet James, the man she has loved for over fifty years, Susan will learn something important about him and about herself.
Susan travels back to the year 1962 in her 17-year-old body where she meets James, age 20, who is part of a band that will one day become the greatest band of all time. Susan is stunned and delighted when James is instantly drawn to her, inviting her out for tea and offering to walk her back to her hotel after the band quits playing for the night.
But much to her consternation, Susan’s 17-year-old hormones begin to play havoc with her 62-year-old brain, tempting her towards a relationship with James that she’s not really certain she wants.
Will James end up to be the paragon Susan always thought him to be? Or, will she learn that sometimes when a dream comes true, that it’s not quite what you expected?

Andee the Aquanaut by S J House

Andee the Aquanaut series
by S J House
Genre: fantasy
Readership: middle grade
Synopsis for Book One: Guardian of the Great Seas
This is a story of high adventure under the low seas, as one extraordinary boy finds his destiny. The forces of evil are gathering to take control of the ocean’s underworld. Only one boy and his unique marine friends can stop them. Andee the Aquanaut becomes the greatest eco-warrior of all time.
Andee is a curious and spirited boy living on an island. His parents, marine biologists, search the reef for new sea-life that could cure illnesses. Andee befriends two young dolphins, Tingo and Tango. One day a terrifying storm rips across the island and waves pull Andee out to sea. In their dinghy, his parents are lost forever. Tingo and Tango save Andee and he becomes a member of their dolphin family. Little does he know, however, he is the Chosen One.
Exploring the sunken Lost City, Andee meets the Wise White Dolphin. Special powers are given to him, allowing him to become one of the great and legendry Aquanauts of the Marine Kingdom. Wearing his magical Aquanaut suit, Andee can breathe underwater, dive to great depths, and speed through the currents. He courageously uses his powers to daringly rescue and save endangered marine life, including dolphins, turtles and manta rays, from fishermen and poachers. The Wise White Dolphin mentors him, and he learns to talk to the jellyfish which can communicate over vast distances.
But Andee misses his parents very much. The Wise White Dolphin gives him a locket that his mother wore, and Andee sets out on a quest to find them. He’s also found an ancient tooth; the key to a dangerous world. Using the tooth to open a submerged door, Andee is sucked into a vortex that whirls him to great depths where he’s attacked by a sea monster.
His seemingly lifeless body is saved by Yolanda, princess of the merpeople. She takes him to her castle where he revives and meets Yolanda’s formidable step-mother, the evil Zadora. As Yolanda’s father, the king, lies dying, Zadora plots to usurp the throne from Yolanda. A water spirit tells the princess and Andee how the treasures of the Lost City were stolen, and are now stored in the castle. Andee still wants to find his parents, but now has a new mission: to return the treasures to the Lost City, reversing the greed of the merpeople, so that balance can be restored in the oceans of the world.
However, the greedy Zadora is plotting to do the exact opposite: to loot and plunder the oceans for gain. Who will win this epic struggle; and will Andee even survive against the terrifying power of the evil mer queen? Will he ever find his parents, and will he one day return to his true love, Yolanda?

Vampire Mage by Janelle Peel

Vampire Mage by Janelle Peel

My name is Sora. I was born into this world to a highly respected Mage family. All was well as a child; most children receive their magic at puberty… I was not that fortunate. Shunned by my family, I was cast out on my twenty-first birthday—a failure and disappointment to those who were supposed to love me.

Left on my own in Seattle with no friends or money, I made my way through low-paying jobs down the coast to Southern California. Fate finally smiled upon me in San Diego, where I scored a serving position at a diner. One night after my shift, I decided to walk to a dive bar near my home to drown my sorrows. That was where I met him: the Master Vampire of the SoCal Clutch.

It was either the biggest mistake of my life… or the best decision in the world.

This series changes POV’s.

Hidden Deep by Amy Patrick

He isn’t supposed to even talk to a human, much less fall in love with one…

Ryann Carroll has just run into the guy who saved her life ten years ago. You might think she’d be happy to see him again. Not exactly. She’s a bit underdressed (as in skinny-dipping) and he’s not supposed to exist.

After her father’s affair, all Ryann wants is to escape the family implosion fallout and find a little peace. She also wouldn’t mind a first date that didn’t suck, but she’s determined not to end up like her mom: vulnerable, betrayed, destroyed. Ryann’s just moved into her grandma’s house in rural Mississippi, the same place where ten years earlier she became lost in the woods overnight and nearly died.

She’s still irresistibly drawn to those woods. There she encounters the boy who kept her from freezing to death that long ago winter night and was nowhere to be seen when rescuers arrived. He’s still mysterious, but now all grown-up and gorgeous, too. And the more she’s with him, the greater the threat he poses to Ryann’s strict policy– never want someone more than he wants you.

Lad knows the law of his people all too well: Don’t get careless and Don’t get caught.
It’s allowed his race to live undetected in this world for thousands of years, mentioned only in flawed and fading folklore. Lad’s never been able to forget about Ryann since that night ten years ago. When he sees her again, his fascination re-ignites and becomes a growing desire that tempts him to break all the rules. He’s not even supposed to talk to a human, much less fall in love with one.

And the timing is atrocious. The Assemblage is coming, the rift between the Light and Dark is widening. Lad may have to trade his own chance at happiness to keep the humans, especially Ryann, blissfully ignorant and safe.

Romantic and gripping, Hidden Deep will transport fans of urban fantasy sagas like The Mortal Instruments and paranormal romance series like Twilight to a fascinating world within our own, filled with suspense, danger, and desire. If you love Paranormal Romance, Urban Fantasy, and the Fae, Amy Patrick’s sexy, magical Hidden Saga will captivate you!
