What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I grew up reading fantastic stories that helped me to escape. I fell in love with HG Wells, Jules Verne, Tolkien, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Edgar Allan Poe. Later I found Allan Dean Foster, Raymond E Feist and Janny Wurst etc could take me to amazing places. I was working a boring office job at the time and started coming up with ideas for my own stories. I wrote the prologue to 'Wizards' one afternoon without any idea of where this story would go. I just wrote and let the story unfold and I loved working this way, not knowing where it was going to end.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I first had the idea when a friend of mine bought me “Inkheart” by Cornelia Funk then after that series I began reading other middle grade fantasy books like “Fablehaven” by Brandon Mull “The Chronicle of Narnia” by C.S. Lewis and became hooked. Other fantasy books inspired me too like “Magic Kingdom of Landover” series by Terry Brooks, “Gatemage” by Orson Scott Card and “Books of Umber” by P.W. Catanese. I started working on this trilogy in 2006 after I wrote my urban fantasy novel “The Lost Angels.”

The Adventures of Jimmy Crikey: The Emerald Lake by Wallace Briggs

This is a stand-alone, fourth in series, The Adventures of Jimmy Crikey, the alien orphan who, despite cruel bullying, decided to make his home on Earth. He numbers among his friends the four witch guardians of Earth’s realms and the ancient Lord Oron, aka The Weatherman.
The underground Emerald Lake, the home of the Aquamites, is invaded by a flesh-eating, fire-breathing serpent, which is impervious to the magic of the four guardian witches. Matilda, the chief witch, asks for Jimmy Crikey’s assistance.
Jimmy accompanies Elwinn, witch guardian of everything associated with water, to visit the Emerald Lake. They arrive at a plausible plan to capture the serpents in a spider’s web net.
Their strategy is complicated because Jimmy cannot breathe underwater unless he is included in Elwinn’s bubble. Several of the strongest young Aquamites agree to act as live bait to entice the serpents into a lake inside an extinct volcano’s caldera.
Once the serpents are lured into the volcano’s lake Jimmy, with the help of his starship SR3 and XRU, the intelligent computer/navigator, will trap the reptiles in a spider’s web net, ready to drag the creatures into the cold depths of deep space.
Jimmy’s heart is captured at first sight of Annison, a young, golden-headed Aquamite who is also the daughter of Milton, the leader of the tribe.
During the operation to rid the Aquamite’s world of serpents, Annison is seriously injured when one serpent takes a bite out of her lower tail. She is dying from the loss of blood. The witches do not have the power to help. There is no time to get her to Jimmy’s home plane of Attalia for advanced surgery.
All appears lost until Lord Oron reveals his real identity. Lord Oron is one of the twelve Lords who serve the all-powerful Master. The Master could save Annison, but he refuses to bring a subject back to life from the dead. Can Lord Oron persuade the Master to intervene and save the life of Jimmy’s first love, Annison?

Kristy Fitzpatrick just can’t catch a break.

As a mortal in a magical world, she often feels disconnected from the rest of her mystical, more exciting classmates. The only thing that she has to compete with in the classroom is her mind.

But even for a magical being like her impulsive naiad best friend, Brianna, life is far from stable. Centuries ago, when a fully formed labyrinth sprang from the ocean, the magic emanating from its ivy walls caused all kinds of devastating magical consequences that affect the planet every year from magical instability in beings all over the world to chaotic natural disasters.

Every year, four high school students are chosen to enter the labyrinth and try to break its hold on the world by solving a series of complex riddles and challenges. Most never come out.

But when Kristy’s school is selected as the home of the next four students, despite her lack of choice in the matter, she sees an opportunity to do something that no other student has managed to do so far: survive the labyrinth.

In Volume 1 of this Hunger Games-meets-Maze Runner high fantasy story from Kindle Vella and Radish, Kristy is about to learn whether her mind and body are up to the task. Because somehow, as she tests her own limitations, the Labyrinth is learning how to best her and her companions. There is no telling what kind of obstacles could come next.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
This book was originally a concept I came up with in sixth grade while I was experimenting with stories to find my genre. I wanted to write something from multiple perspectives that would allow me to show off some of my favorite character archetypes and experiment with writing first person in the male voice. When I started work with Kindle Vella this past summer, I pulled this story out of the archives to revamp it and give it a new look. I aged up the characters, made the challenges a little more complicated, and played around with some more serious themes.

She befriends a small bird which she claims ‘talks’ to her and only her. Thereafter, she is mysteriously orphaned while still at an important young stage in her life. Her nearby American aunt adopts her and though Yamaria attempts to adjust to her new circumstances, she turns to her studies as an escape from her feelings of confusion and longing to know her place in the world. Her American aunt continues her sister and brother-in-law’s method of raising Yamaria and is unfamiliar with their secret. As Yamaria delves further into her studies at university; she unwittingly follows a predestined path that could change the world forever. The protagonist leaves America for Italy and stays with her traditional Italian aunt and uncle to further her post-graduate research. Although her hardworking Italian uncle is oblivious as to what Yamaria searches for, her aunt possesses crucial information that will guide Yamaria to a pivotal event that challenges the limits of what she believes she is capable of. During this journey, she is reunited with an Italian, suave university classmate that takes a sudden interest in her. She is skeptical as Salvatore could have any woman that he wanted. She is an odd beauty with an awkwardness that he finds utterly attractive and refreshing. He convinces her of his intentions and they begin a romance that would be the envy of any townsperson. Salvatore, with all of his wealth and luxurious excursions he provides Yamaria, hopes that he can also be her protector. Yamaria is reacquainted with a being who has watched over her since she was a child, waiting for that inner part of her to reawaken so that it may be guided. However, paranormal circumstances forces Yamaria to stand on her own, using her wit, strength and fortitude to solve a puzzle involving a sacred tree in Italy and a keepsake that her father gifted her as a child. She discovers others who exist in different realms whom her parents were aware of. Yamaria quickly bonds with her newfound acquaintances as they realized that each of them must use their abnormal gifts to defeat a common enemy. One of the gifted possesses a special book that she holds onto dearly. Yamaria, with their vital assistance, successfully saves the Earth in her time hoping to not disturb other planes of existence. Yet this accomplishment is marred with the betrayal of one of her sisters. Yamaria and the others now must battle an enemy that follows them back to earth. Out of guilt for causing one of the gifted’s death (Livianna), Basilia appears to have sacrificed herself at an attempt for redemption. Salvatore supports his beloved Yamaria throughout the paranormal happenings. Despite the oddities that accompany her, he still asks for her hand in marriage. As she prepares for her nuptials, Yamaria’s grandparents withheld their knowledge that her American aunt and uncle died in a tragic car accident in America before the wedding. Yamaria and Salvatore welcomes a surprise guest at their wedding reception. She sees this person return in her true form. Gidadina places her beloved book in the care of the unaware Yamaria, slipping it in her bridal satchel. Salvatore and Yamaria have now affirmed their destiny. The worst is over until…

Circumstance and a yearning to write beyond what I had been before. Silhouette Lost is the first of two fiction books I wrote. I wanted to use whatever spare time I had and one night I could not fall asleep. All these ideas were stirring in my head. I initially jotted some notes about the what names I would call the characters, whether their names would have any hidden meaning and a line or two about the main plot. Since then I generally do not outline or make notes. It was a time in my life in which a jolt of literary energy surfaced. Writing a novel was still new to me. I go into details on what inspired me to write this book in the preface of Silhouette Lost, now available as an ebook at select online retailers.

The Princelings of the East Books 1-3 by Jemima Pett

The Princelings of the East Books 1-3 by Jemima Pett

A time tunnel, a pirate king, a lost city. In three separate adventures, Princelings Fred and George set out to solve trifling problems, and uncover dangerous and sometimes desperate foes, each with his or her own agenda, threatening the peace of the Realms.

The Princelings of the East: the saga starts with Fred and George leaving their cosy Castle in the Marsh. They encounter the mysterious cola vendor Hugo, the playboy Prince Lupin, and the over-worked innkeeper Victor, and have to use their own wits to decide who to trust, and how to prevent their ordered society descending into chaos.

The Princelings and the Pirates sees our heroes setting out to discover what has gone wrong at Castle Dimerie. It’s a simple errand that ends in kidnap, shipwreck, and a battle in which no quarter is given. Princeling Fred rescues a damsel in distress, not that she thinks she is.

The Princelings and the Lost City introduces George to the delights of flying, and Fred to the tortures of true love. Their inventions and experiments take a back seat as the puzzle of the Lost City and its all-female society lead to questions that may be too difficult to solve.

And having experienced a time paradox in the first adventure, George is under pressure to achieve a new method of providing the world with energy from strawberry juice. It’s a project that, for all the benefits it brings, creates far-reaching changes in their ordered society.

Praise for the books

“Princelings of the East is a suspense-filled mystery strong on character development, with a deliciously complex and engaging plot, that is sure to be enjoyed by older tweens and adults alike.” (Mother Daughter Book Reviews)

“The plot is absolutely brilliant. It’s sci-fi mixed with mystery and action, and I would recommend it to everyone!!!!” (Joshua A, aged 13, for Published Bestsellers)

“Another hazardous adventure, complete with swashbuckling pirates and beautiful princesses. As in the first book, the story is narrated in a fun and engaging style. The writing throughout is top quality and I love the witty chapter sub-headings.” (Wendy Leighton-Porter, author of the Shadows from the Past series)

“Lost City, book 3 in the [series], is a great read for those who love fantasy with young male protagonists. The plot is new, interesting, and will engage your mind in the story. A great work was created by the author with this trilogy. (Anna Dye, Readers’ Favorite)

These three adventures are also available as standalone ebooks, paperbacks and now as audiobooks (no 3 is in preparation).
This is a revised box set edition of the three titles, complete with their chapter illustrations, updated to match the audiobooks.

Imagining Dragons by Robert Gaspari

Tom dreamed of the spirit of a dragon who encouraged him to help bring the beast back to life on our world. He found the dragon’s seed hidden away in his uncle’s collection of archeological artifacts after the young man inherited the professor’s estate.
This began a strange journey for Tom, as the dragon spoke to him each night, bestowed psychic powers upon him, and groomed the man to become a Dragon Master. Tom relished this opportunity and willingly engaged in every task assigned to him by this mythological creature. That is until certain things went against his moral fiber…
Would you do what the beast in your dreams demanded if it gave you unlimited power? That was Tom’s dilemma and it could have one of two possible outcomes.

THIS BOOK IS TWO BOOKS IN ONE!

After the original ending, I step back six chapters and provide a totally different alternate ending. I hope you enjoy them both.

Jimmy Crikey’s Adventures in the Sky Islands by Wallace Briggs

Jimmy Crikey’s Adventures in the Sky Islands
This stand-alone story is the second in the series of Jimmy Crikey’s adventures.
Jimmy Crikey is the orphan alien brought up by a loving lady who lived on the edge of the forest close to Esh Village.
Once bullied beyond endurance because of his strange appearance, Jimmy ran away, searching for a place where he could fit in. He found himself in the town of Roombelow, where Jimmy developed his abilities to protect his new home from the dangers that threatened. Jimmy chose to remain on Earth with his new family of friends, which included Gemma, the little lady he found at the bottom of the well but didn’t know how she got there. The four witch guardians became an integral part of his life, as did Lord Oron, the Weatherman who roamed the world in his cloud.
Far above Earth, a war-like, galactic race of Zyrons invade the Sky Islands.
