The more Korbela spends time with Andras she attempts to defy and undermine him to make him leave Jotrel. However, she discovers Andras is not the mindless tyrant she takes him for. She finds him to be a complex and intelligent character capable of kindness and brutality in equal measure. She also finds years of war has created a demon inside of him that haunts and urges him to perform acts of savagery that drives him to feel intense remorse that threatens to break him.

As their bond deepens, Korbela must free Andras from his demon that attempts to consume him before it is too late.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I like starting from the point where the bad guy wins. I try to work out what drives them and if they can change. With Andras, he has a lot of issues which Korbela has to peel back to find out the deep seated issue Andras has while overcoming her preconceived presumptions about him.
