A withc placed a curse on Annwn as a child. At first, the curse wasn’t obvious, but by the time Annwn became twenty,, nighttime would find her as a wolf. She fears she will never know happiness with a man and so stays away from men.
Briatn is a cit sentry, attracted to Annwn because of her beauty and her sweetness. He wonders why she shies away from him. He hopes that his love is strong enough to win her over, but she sees no chance of happiness for them.
