In the city of Iru, capital of the planet Lydo, a nineteen-year-old research student at the Science Academy named Brad enters the Netherworld to research its little-known inhabitants. In the process he loses his memory and takes on the form of the Daganland inhabitants. He awakens in the town of Nofer in Daganland, and soon learns he has entered a world of darkness and fire, where the odd inhabitants live and work by night. Ruled by a Tyrant, social relationships are forbidden, and friendships are prohibited. Menace overshadows the inhabitants at every turn, and Brad does not feel at ease in the strange environment.
