How is Writing In Your Genre Different from Others?
I’m a lawyer by training and education, so I always dreamed of writing a legal thriller (I have about a dozen half-written novels tucked away), but when my son was in middle school, and I hosted numerous books clubs for the students, I fell completely in love with the YA genre. After hosting a Twilight book club for students and their moms it was totally clear to me that the grown-ups love this genre as much as the kids! That’s when I switched my focus and was finally able to complete my first novel. The second one was even easier! Third one’s on the way, and I’m lovin’ it!
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
Write the kind of book you love to read! It will hold your interest. Remember that all writers have those dark days when they want to chuck everything they’ve written into the trash and forget this crazy notion that they had some talent in the first place. When that happens, just step back for a day or two, do something fun and refreshing, read something inspiring and the writing gods will smile on you once again!

She has resided in seven different states and London, England.
Vicky currently lives on the west coast of Florida with her boyishly charming husband, her handsome son, and two effervescent dogs. She is diligently working on Illuminosity, Book 3 of the Transcender Trilogy.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I’ve always loved romantic adventure stories set in medieval times, with brave warriors, graceful horses, swordfights, and princesses. The problem is I’m not a fan of “damsel in distress” tales. I wanted my heroine to be a thoroughly modern girl, smart, capable, courageous, and athletic. So I needed to figure out how to get my modern girl into a setting that had all the fun of medieval times, but with great clothes and indoor plumbing. The time-travel concept didn’t really work by itself. But I’ve always been fascinated with the notion of parallel lives. That’s how I came up with the idea of a Transcender—someone with the ability to travel among alternate universes. That concept allowed me to pick and choose which elements I wanted in my story. It’s great fun!
