My name is Polly Summers. I was recently kidnapped by two enchanters and taken away to Chaldea, far, far away from my home, for no good reason that I can discern. Oh yes, I was impersonating the princess at the time of my kidnapping, but they’re under no illusions that I actually am the princess, trust me. I certainly do not act like one. I am currently spending my time in the room they have put me in, sulking. Well, wouldn’t you be, if a strange enchanter had kidnapped you?
‘Why Polly?’ is a serialized novel which will ultimately contain thirty chapters. This is Chapter 3.
Harma-Mae Smit is currently surviving your typical tumultuous twenty-something years, but through it all has clung to three constants in her life: God, travel and writing. Despite her strong Dutch-Canadian roots, she’s discovered a small piece of Brazil in her soul after venturing onto the South American continent. Her love of travel, though, is rivalled only by her life-long love of writing. Her fingers felt the itch even before she could spell, requiring the conscription of her mother to spell out every word of her story that had to be written.
At first, a collective power in the Seven Soleran Kingdoms made sense. United under the Council, they thought it would be the end of years of war and death.
When the Council ordered the systematic murder of those capable of wielding magic – Runics – as reparation for their role in the Soleran loss of the Great War, no one thought twice of the order.
Except a few Dragonics – prestigious dragon riders – who defied the damning orders and instead demanded justice. But, their call for defiance came too late.
Now, those against the Council’s oppressive reign have long since been outcast to the fringes of society – their numbers and will dwindling. Alaister Paine, Commander of the Rogue Dragonics – an elite force of Resistance Dragon Riders – leads the quest for freedom and justice with little hope of success.
On the eve of a political victory for the Council, Paine deciphers one of his predecessor’s logs revealing that one Runic – a woman of untold magic – was hidden from the Council’s grasp.
Find the Runic, and the Rogues will finally be able to enact a legendary prophecy meant to free Solera and bring justice back to its people.
Trouble is… they are not the only ones searching for the last Soleran Runic.

How is Writing In Your Genre Different from Others?
Writing fiction is harder than writing non-fiction because you have to keep up with the characters in the story line as well as the direction the story is going. It takes much more effort to write fiction.
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
Never let anyone tell you that you can’t succeed. If you fail the first time, you need to try once again. Success comes through hard work, dedication and devotion at loving what you do.
Attended Toccoa Falls College, inspired author and a book reader too. I always loved Stephen King, Clive Barker and Stephen Spielberg books and movies. I love to write stories that can happen in real life and out of the ordinary.
I don’t like to stay tied down to writing one book at a time and mix writing chapters from one book to the next book to keep the books as exciting as possible. I believe a writer can become bored with their own work if they work on one book continuously and working on several keeps their mind going to new things.
Currently, I am working on five fiction books. Hang on because it is going to be a wild ride in 2013. “Remember, reading is an adventure!” If you love to read and learn, read great books. I hope you enjoy reading my books as much as I love creating them.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
My inspiration come from watching many movies on the UFO subject. “Close encounters of the third kind” and “Fire in the Sky, Travis Walton Story,” inspired me to write “The Gift from the Light Series.” The first book here is the prelude to the real story as to what this woman does with the power she receives.
The bloody civil war that ruined the country is lost, and Dazlar, last of the Royal Guards, returns weary and alone to the village of his birth, hoping for peace at last.
The war was only the first move, however, in a terrible plot now launched by the new ruler of the land. Lord Protector Cranmer has discovered a frightening truth at the heart of the world, and means to exploit it for his own dark purposes.
The gruesome discovery that Dazlar makes during his fateful homecoming will place him at the very centre of Cranmer’s plans, and the reluctant knight will be called upon to fight once more, alongside a strange girl from another world.
But this time the stakes are much higher than mere territory and rulership.
This time, the battle is for existence itself.

How is Writing In Your Genre Different from Others?
My writing is different in that I couldn’t just have the fantasy world exist – I wanted a reason for Enpesius to be there in the first place. I also used the backdrop of the novel to explore deeper questions that trouble us all in the lonely hours of the night.
Whether I answered them is another matter entirely!
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
Write write write! Practice really does make perfect in this field, so try and write a little every day – even if you don’t want to. The more you make yourself available to your muse, the more they will reward you!
Nicholas Marsh has never forgiven his parents for giving him a happy childhood, thus depriving him of the necessary angst and bottled-up rage to become a full-time writer. Not only that, his genetic inheritance has so far thwarted every attempt to grow a beard to make him appear dark and brooding. Four weeks of strenuous effort only result in a near-invisible fluffy covering that even a student would quickly shave off in embarrassment.
Since his late teenage years he is proud that he had managed to maintain his height at a constant five feet ten inches. If only everything in life were that simple. He currently works as a veterinary surgeon in Plymouth, UK, and doesn’t think the job is all that bad really. On his days off he spends his time being cruel to pot plants, drinking cups of tea and, occasionally, writing.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I always wanted to write a full-blown fantasy tale with elves, dwarfs, orcs – the lot. The problem was justifying how such a world might exist! I eventually found a way to do that, and also managed to use it as a way to pose questions about the nature of reality, and how and why we exist as individuals – all wrapped up in a traditional fantasy setting.
First, Ms. Taymika G. Byrd of the now famed Crescent City Connection series brings you In the Vieux Carre’. A tale of sex and seduction in the city that time forgot. Who knows how a life can change when a young attorney moves into a haunted French Quarter apartment.
Next, Beinvenito a Miami takes you on an all night flight through the club scene in one of the hottest cities around with a sexy witch who’s on the run from some bad decisions.
Finally, Skye Fall introduces Skye Morgan a young woman on the run from evil demons who want to use her newly discovered talents for their own dark purposes. Will she stay hidden long enough to develop the strength to save her own life?

Don’t stop! Giving up is easy but if you truly have a story then let it out! You may not be an over night sensation but if you just touch a hand full of people then it was worth it.
